LSH blog - trust in yourself

Why do we not trust in ourselves? How often do we seek the approval of others? Run an idea by people whose opinion we respect to validate something we are considering. Why do we do this? Why do we not trust our own inner voice and intuition? How often have you done this and then wished you hadn’t because of some of the responses? I know I have!

In this month’s Breathe magazine, Kristy Vail reveals that it is down to evolution. Our instinct to fit in and seek the approval of our “clan” was necessary for survival. However, what others think of us still matters now, which has become a huge obstacle to self-belief.

Pleasing others and seeking approval is also something we learn as children. Feeling safe to be ourselves takes courage when we are programmed to continually seek validation and rely on the encouragement and feedback of others.

So how can hypnotherapy help with trust?

Hypnotherapy can help you to listen less to your fears and more to your dreams. Imagine how we would all be if we were less afraid? The confidence we seek is actually inside us all. Hypnotherapy can help you to understand that and, to trust in yourself, and the more you do that, the more others will believe in you too!

We are programmed to think negatively, so we do tend to underestimate our own capabilities and think about all the things that could go wrong. We also tend to compare ourselves to others and think that everyone else is far more qualified and more capable than we are. Hypnotherapy can help you to support yourself by shifting your focus positively, where you can then be quietly confident in your own abilities.
