Sleep plays a vital role in our lives. Not many people realise that our health depends on it. How well you eat, how motivated you are during the day, if you want to exercise, all depends on you getting enough sleep.
Lack of sleep can lead to physical illness and increase your risk of heart disease and mentally can lead to anxiety problems.
What is insomnia?
Insomnia is defined as the difficulty in getting enough sleep or staying asleep for long enough to feel refreshed the next morning.
We have all experienced disrupted sleep and this can be down to a number of things; what you are doing the next day, a deadline you need to meet for work or simply drinking a coffee too near to bedtime. A disturbed sleep can leave you feeling drained and irritable the next day and if you suffer from insomnia you feel like this regularly.
Signs of insomnia
Insomnia can manifest itself in many ways. The common symptoms are not being able to fall asleep, being awake for long periods at night, waking up several times during the night, feeling irritable, feeling groggy the next morning and waking up and not being able to go back to sleep.
Hypnotherapy for insomnia
Hypnotherapy for insomnia can help you relax and go to sleep. It may be that you have other problems such as anxiety that is stopping you sleeping and therefore hypnotherapy can help with this. Overcoming the issue of say, anxiety, may then improve your sleeping pattern.
My hypnotherapy session taps into your subconscious to uncover what may have triggered the sleep problem. Your body may have got used to the unusual sleep patterns which have then become a habit. Through hypnosis I can suggest positive changes that will help break the negative thought patterns causing your sleep problem.
The most important thing I will focus on is relaxation, after all you need to be relaxed in order to fall asleep. I can help you learn relaxation techniques, including listening to one of my calming audio files that will help reduce tension and assist with improving your sleep.
