Lizzie Smith Hypnotherapy - mindset

As human beings, we are conditioned to think negatively, so it does not always come naturally to reframe your mindset and put a positive spin on things. Our brains are wired to react to what are perceived as threats quickly, so releasing fear and finding calm and inner peace can be challenging.

With hypnosis it is possible to create positive shifts and sow the seeds of change in the subconscious mind. So whatever goals you have for yourself can be achieved this way and you can reframe the way you think, which then helps you to feel better and to be able to live the life you want.

I’ve noticed recently from chatting to clients, that there does seem to be a great deal of anxiety around getting older – particularly as we approach birthdays with a zero! We may physically age, but our minds can still be youthful and this is something we can embrace and work towards with hypnotherapy. It’s not about how we look – it’s how we feel. Being open to changing direction with positivity and energy has nothing to do with appearance.

Reframe your mindset

Some of the most youthful people are actually in their 70s, 80s and 90s. I remember talking to my grandmother on her 90th birthday and asking her what age did she actually feel. Her reply astounded me – she said “In my head, I feel about the same age as you!” – I was in my early 40s at the time! She was a very youthful lady, she whizzed around in a Mini and she was very active; she walked everywhere and enjoyed exercise and art classes throughout her life. She had that essence of youth and was not prepared to grow old mentally.

Being prepared to learn new things and engaging with what is happening around you, can keep you feeling connected and be liberating. It’s never too late to make change. We tend to be our own harshest critic and our learned behaviours keep us safely in our comfort zone. Hypnotherapy can help you to champion your inner coach and to remove the blocks that may be in the way.

When you start to believe you are good enough you will focus on what is possible and create those positive shifts. Think about what you loved about your younger self – it’s still there and you can use it to re-frame the way you feel now.

I certainly never believed that I would be doing some of the things that are in the diary for this year. I appreciate the benefits of my life experience – but I am enjoying living in the moment and I do believe some of my best years are yet to come!
