Lizzie Smith Hypnotherapy - comfort eating

Comfort eating is a term many of us are familiar with. We can be doing well, feeling on track and then something can happen that makes us sabotage all those good intentions and we end up bingeing. Most of us have used food to make us feel better and emotional triggered eating is something that can make us feel guilty and out of control.

For some, it can be a daily struggle, for others it is a way of handling difficult emotions or stress.

Why do we do it?

Desire for comfort food is a learned behaviour and something we feel and then we repeat it until it becomes automatic and habitual. If we try to resist, the desire intensifies, creating feelings of deprivation, anxiety and guilt.

Our brains also associate the high we get from sugar with survival and that is why we prioritise sugary foods.

The good news is that hypnotherapy can help you to unlearn that behaviour and re-programme the brain with a new measured and mindful response. The subconscious mind is where our learned behaviours are and where hypnosis makes the positive change.

My 4-week on-line Mindful Eating course is not a diet, because diets create conflict emotionally and physically. It involves raising your level of intention when you eat…being present, measured and mindful, which we achieve with hypnotherapy, and boosting your metabolism with the healthy foods you then choose to eat.

So if you want to beat the comfort eating and feel back in control, why not get in touch for an initial free 15-minute chat.  You won’t look back!
