How many of us hit the snooze button on the alarm, especially now it’s getting darker in the mornings? Could hypnosis be the answer to silence that familiar “inner lazy gene”? Hypnosis is not magic – you can’t make someone do something they really don’t want to do, but many of us do want to be more active and are aware of the benefits to our physical and mental health – so what is stopping us?
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious part of the mind – so while we may consciously want to be more active, eat more healthily, drink less alcohol – our subconscious very often has other ideas and is not quite on the same page! The subconscious mind is not logical but purely reactive and behavioural. It is where all our learned behaviours are.
Hypnotherapy involves talking through what it is you are wanting to achieve and what might be creating blocks to these goals. This could be a lack of confidence, stress, anxiety, loss, or a lack of belief (if you’ve never been sporty or enjoyed exercise). Once we establish this, it is possible to create a positive shift in the subconscious with hypnosis and you will then find yourself feeling motivated and putting on the gym kit – if that it is your preferred form of exercise!
Be more active thanks to hypnotherapy
With hypnotherapy it is also possible to visualise yourself the way you want to be and this is a powerful exercise for the brain. It is about “believability”. When we mentally rehearse something we want, then it helps to strengthen the neural pathways and creates optimism and resilience. Hypnotherapy will help you to find new ways to climb over the stumbling blocks and clear your mind of negative learned behaviours and create new preferred ones. Anything you imagine, you can then create! So there really is nothing stopping you from releasing those limiting beliefs, dusting off the Lycra and becoming more active.
It is also an opportunity to champion your inner coach, that often-quiet voice which is in touch with what is possible, our limitless potential! So, if you feel it is time to find your “inner runner/walker/swimmer”, then do book an online appointment with me.
