Lizzie Smith Hypnotherapy - emotional eating

Most of us have used food to make us feel better and found ourselves emotional eating for comfort when faced with difficult feelings. However, triggers for emotional eating is something that can make us feel guilty and out of control. For some it can be a daily struggle.

Why do we do it?

Eating lights up the reward system in your brain – so you instantly feel better. Desire for comfort foods is a learned behaviour which we then repeat until it becomes habitual.

It is very natural that we have an emotional connection with food – after all eating is associated with enjoyment and celebration and is at the centre of so many things that we do. We find ourselves making food for friends who are going through a difficult time and showing that we care.  So, it is not surprising that when we are feeling anxious, stressed or unhappy we turn to the one thing that creates a feeling of comfort – food.

Those who follow restrictive diets are also more likely to show signs of emotional eating.

How hypnotherapy can help curb emotional eating

With hypnotherapy you will unlearn that habit of emotional eating and we re-programme the subconscious with a measured and mindful response to the emotional eating triggers.

The subconscious part of the mind is where our learned behaviours are and where hypnosis makes the positive change. You will find yourself choosing to eat healthy foods in a measured and mindful way and therefore learning to control emotional eating!

My 4-week Mindful Eating course will help you to curb emotional eating, feel back in control and positive. It will change your whole outlook towards the foods that you eat!

So if this resonates with you and you are fed up with dieting or feeling controlled by urges to eat emotionally – then why not get in touch with me for a free 15 minute chat. The sessions are bespoke and tailored to your individual needs. I look forward to hearing from you!
