I have recently been contacted by people who are struggling with the psychological impact of Long COVID, which has been described to me as more significant than the physical illness of COVID-19.
The vast majority of those who have Long COVID had a mild illness of Coronavirus for a week or so and were previously healthy and active. They seemed to recover, but then went downhill and are now faced with frequent relapses, extreme fatigue, and the debilitating fear of whether they will ever feel better in time. For many, they are still unable to return to work or live the lives they had before. All of this is extremely challenging to be dealing with and the uncertainty and fear are leading to increased levels of stress, anxiety, panic, and depression.
