Lizzie Smith Hypnotherapy - hypnotherapy for loss

I was chatting with one of my clients yesterday, who has been struggling with loss, and she told me that she felt she had “turned a corner.” She was feeling more comfortable in herself and with being on her own. The hypnotherapy for loss sessions have enabled her to reflect on what brings her solace and contentment – something she initially didn’t believe she would ever feel again. She has discovered that tranquil pursuits are what she appreciates doing the most and she feels drawn to these far more now.

Are you suffering from a loss?

Whether your loss is through a bereavement, empty-nest syndrome, or a relationship breakdown, there is a pressure that we can put on ourselves to make the most of every minute and fill our days with things to do and people to see. It’s a natural reaction and we think it will make us feel better. It can certainly be helpful, but it is important to remember that when things feel out of control, focussing on the simpler things we love to do, can be grounding and give us a sense of security.

This conversation made me reflect on what is important. I do think as we get older we can have a “light-bulb” moment when it comes to what makes us feel better. We may have a bucket list of things we still plan to do, but “doing nothing” and having a quiet afternoon to ourselves can sometimes bring us the greatest contentment.
